Antique Winchester Model 1873 2nd Model Lever Action Rifle, #80963, .44 W.C.F. cal., 24" octagon barrel, blued with color case hardened hammer and lever, gloss finished smooth walnut straight grip stock and forend with an iron nose cap and smooth crescent trapdoor buttplate, factory dovetailed blade front sight, buckhorn rear sight, dust cover without thumb print, and unmarked brass cartridge lifter. Mfg'd 1881. Rifle is in fine overall condition, retaining approx. 70%-75% thinning and toning factory finish overall. Barrel with light scratching, wear, and patina, primarily to the front half; edges are sharp. There are a few spots of light pitting on the right side, near the rear sight that show evidence of cleaning with something abrasive. Magazine tube retains little finish and is now mostly brown. Receiver displays significant high polish blue finish, with edge wear, intermittent light scratches and spots of mild frosting. Screw heads are very good. Hammer and lever show muted smoky gray color case hardened finish, brighter in the protected areas. Stock is in fine condition, with minor indentations and rub marks, with an added coat of varnish. Action functions well. Bore is good with light erosion and shallow but clearly visible rifling. Est.: $3,000-$5,000. (Antique)
