this antique world war ii-era custom-made combat hunting knife with its matching sheath is in overall very good condition, presenting an authentic field-carried character. The hand-forged steel blade exhibits standard sharpening marks, light age scuffs, and faint carbon tracking, while the custom stacked leather handle remains structurally robust with minor handling compression. The knife features a 5-inch custom hand-forged clip point blade and measures approximately 9â¼ inches in overall length, complemented by a 9â½-inch leather sheath. Pertinent markings include a handwritten provenance card attributing the piece as an original custom frank j. Richtig knife, complete with the three cut metal bolt sections demonstrating his legendary blade-tempering strength. The lot is complete as pictured with its custom stitched-and-riveted leather sheath, the accompanying provenance note, and the cut bolt specimens. Hand-forged by master blacksmith frank j. Richtig in clarkson, nebraska, these rare custom knives are legendary among military collectors for a proprietary heat-treating process that allowed them to chop through steel bolts and immediately shave hair without ruining the edge.
