Interior or "Arctic" grizzly bears are known more for their colors than their size, with 7ft being a nice big bear and bears from 6 1/2 ft being taken for their colors.
It's also important to know that most of the bears with the wild colors are sows, which are legal of they don't have cubs just something to be aware of.
The bigger the bear, the darker they are typically and boars are usually dark in color but some have blond/silver bodies with darker legs and head.
They come in all shapes and sizes and they are hard to judge so most hunters look for a bear that strikes them color wise and don't get to hung up on the inches.
The bears are feeding on berries and ground squirrels, with berries being the hot spot this time of year.
The bigger patches of berries can hold a bear long enough to get to him and take a shot.

Also caribou is available for harvest on a trophy fee of $5,000.00 IF it's harvested as a second animal.
If you take a caribou and not a bear then there's no trophy fee.

We thank Northern Professional Outfitting and Guide Service for there generosity in helping our chapter, banquet, and our overall cause of keeping veterans in the outdoors, and enabling and educating our youth to be involved in conservation, and hunting.
