Argentine Model 1879 Remington Rolling Block Rifle, #NVSN, .43 Spanish cal., 34.6" barrel, blued finish, straight grip walnut stock and forend with three barrel bands, inverted-"V" front sight, and adjustable folding leaf rear sight with "V" notch; graduated to 1150 meters. Includes steel cleaning rod. Rifle features a lug on the right side barrel for mounting a saber bayonet. Receiver tang is marked with very faint, unreadable Remington patent information. Top of the barrel shank is marked "MODELO ARGENTINO 1879 E.N." Condition overall is very good, retaining approx. 92%+ of its reblued finish, some which shows plum colored toning, and was applied over areas of light pitting on the receiver, and both sides of the barrel at the wood line. Wood has been refinished, and is now relatively smooth, with intermittent mostly moderate dents and scratches. The forend is cracked on both sides, forward of the front barrel band. Additionally, there are two chips missing from the buttstock, at the upper tang. Action operates smoothly. There is a long scratch visible across the right side lands and grooves. Bore is otherwise very good and primarily bright with defined rifling. Cleaning rod was broken and repaired. Est.: $300-$500. (Antique)
