As found 18th century American “Kentucky” flintlock pistol with side plate stamped, “Revolutionary War. 1776. Captain Daniel Reiff.” The pistol is 13 ¼” in overall length with an 8” octagon barrel of .52caliber plus smoothbore with brass mounts. The stocks show most of the original reddish color violin type varnish with minor nicks, mars and scratches. There is a crack behind the top rear area of the lock that extends to the tang. The ram rod is missing. An original flintlock with correct small parts, completely uncleaned and unrestored as discovered by Walter J. O’Connor in the Pasadena area in the late 80’s-90’s and soldby Little John’s for the Reiff descendants almost 30 years ago. Unfortunately, the information on Reiff was lost but Little John recalls he was from Pennsylvania, possibly the Lancaster area. Est.: $3,500-$7,000.
