Austrian Model 1850 Heavy Cavalry Sword, with scabbard, with 33'' wide fullered blade, marked at ricasso with maker's name of ''C. JURMANN'' and dated 1851. The large basket guard has pierced holes and two slots for a sword knot; guard is faintly stamped ''C.JURMANN, 1851'' near the quillion area. Backstrap and pommel are steel. Grip is grooved wood, but missing a large portion of the wood, and the sword tang shows through. Scabbard is steel with a large drag and two large hanging rings, faintly stamped ''C.JURMANN, 1854'' near the top and numbered ''12'' on the back spine. OAL is 40-1/2''. Condition is good with the blade cleaned bright showing light rust pitting, numerous small edge nicks, and a somewhat blunted tip. Guard, backstrap and pommel are all cleaned bright and show light rust pitting overall. Grip is missing a large portion of the wood. Scabbard has been cleaned bright and shows light, and some heavy rust pitting overall, but no appreciable dents. Est.: $300-$500.
