BALD EAGLE BRONZE SCULPTURE BY DAVID MANUEL TITLED
“LATE FOR LUNCH”. This sculpture measures 17 1/4" in height including the marble base & wooden plinth. The wingspan of the eagle is slightly over 15”. The sculpture itself depicts a bald eagle in flight, diving to capture hapless rabbit running for its life. The rabbit is diving for his hole in a tree trunk just ahead of the eagle’s talons. The base of the tree trunk is marked “LATE FOR LUNCH 83/99 DAVID MANUEL (arrowhead) C (in circle)”. The marble base has a mottled brown coloration, and the hardwood plinth is roughly 1 3/4" high. A well-done modern bronze that depicts, quite successfully, a diving eagle intent on grasping its prey. The eagle is inches too far away, hence the title “Late for Lunch”. CONDITION: sculpture has no apparent wear. PROVENANCE: From the Lifelong Collection of Glen E. Mattox. (02-18953/BF). $800-1,400.
