Cal. 338 Lapua Mag. S# 98B00004. Bbl. 27". Barrett Firearms is absolutely best known for their extremely high quality 50 BMG platforms however that is a long distance from where their innovation stops. W/ numerous other offerings, all tremendously well built, the focus of this particular exercise is to bridge the huge gap between an infantry-level load like the 5.56x45 MM or 7.62x51 NATO & the time honored & battle proven 50 BMG. While each have an area they excel in, the operational territory between the two is enormous. It would be extremely impractical & counter productive to issue a 50 BMG as a primary weapon & cal. but if a fair amount of longer-range work & at times fill an anti-material weapon role were possible w/ something that had a comparable weight & physical footprint w/ the current issued battle rifle then it may make sense. This is the role the Barrett M98B, chambered in .338 Lapua Mag was designed to fill. Weighing in at approximately 16 lbs. w/ its 1:10 rifled, fluted 27” bbl. & w/ a plethora of available ammunition options the 98B does just that. Utilizing an effective muzzle break design & well thought out stock this can be accomplished while keeping the recoil impulse to that of a 20 ga. shotgun. Feeding from a detachable box magazine allows mission specific ammunition to be called upon in an instant. The monolithic receiver assembly incorporates over 18" of picatinny rail to accommodate even the most technological load out. The distance capability of the system is immediately acknowledged w/ a 40 MOA adjustment built into the rail itself. Heat dissipation is addressed via 28 oval shaped cooling ports in the receiver over the breech area. Accessory rails may be added at 3/6/9:00 to suit any accessory necessity. The factory trigger is fully adj. & the owner’s manual details each adjustment making the procedure safe & easy. The shoulder stock w/ its soft rubber recoil pad utilizes a height adj. cheek piece to perfectly match shooter to the optics of choice. The pistol grip is checkered on the rear while inlet at the front w/ a stippled texture. The entire system is finished in a matching matte black color. Right side operated bolt action w/ manual reversible controls currently located on left side. Mag. release located at front of trigger guard. MAGS: 1 factory 10 rd. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: fitted Pelican transport case & factory owners manual. CONDITION: all aspects indicate extremely low usage if any any all. Exterior finish is complete & free of any noticeable blemishing. Telltale areas of normal usage such as debris buildup in muzzle brake chambers are absent. Finish wear on areas of mechanical intervention is also absent. Trigger is extremely light & crisp. Bore is shiny & strong rifling. (21-1589/JZ). MODERN. $3,000-4,000.
