PISTOL. Cal. 9mm Largo. S# 15823. Bbl. 4" w/ blade front sight & fixed V notch on takedown. Initially mfg. for Denmark in serial range 6,000 to 11,000; 4,840 units. Improved version of Model 1908 w/ minor modifications to include distinctive 'S' shaped mainspring. Push button sideplate release. After Danish order, Germans ordered 2,000 that were numbered 15,000 to 16,999; produced w/out Belgian proofs. Open diamond having "C" inside for proofs. Chambering is more powerful than 9mm Luger & correctly titled 9x23mm Bergmann. Production ceased in 1914 but cleanup production occurred after WWI & numbered in 17,000 range. Grips are improved checkered walnut as Danish Trolit plastic grips were prone to cracking & chipping. Left front of bbl. extension marked " BREVETTE / S. G. D. G." left rear has Pieper markings. MAGS: 1 good plus 6 rd. numbered 1423; noticeable wear on spine plus portions of body. CONDITION: good to very good overall appearance having high point wear along w/ light marks & peppery oxidation. Left side of frame by hammer pivot w/ numerous punch marks as if to retain pivot. Receiver rails w/ some extra light pitting & wear. Grips have much hand wear & extra finish applied. Good appearing bore w/ light wear & frosting. (20-937/NW). CURIO. $2,000-3,000.
