AFRICAN MAGNUM BOLT ACTION RIFLE IN 585 GMA. Cal. 585 GMA. S# 0191. Weighing in almost 12 lbs., this rifle is especially built for the huge 585 GMA cartridge firing a 750 gr. bullet at over 2,200 feet per second resulting in over 8,000 foot lbs. of energy. This is overkill for even the largest African game. Granite Mountain Arms is well known for recreating & even improving upon the classic 98 Mauser Magnum action. The diameter of the bolt body is almost 3/4", and its overall length is almost 6 3/4" allowing the largest diameter cartridges available to feed smoothly. This rifle has 25" heavyweight bbl. fitted with integral quarter rib holding one standing, two folding leaf express rear sight with leaves marked for 100 and 200 yards. Sling eye & front sight ramp are banded on. A gold bead front sight is under knurled protector. Caliber is marked at left rear. Massive Model 98 Mauser type action features solid side wall & squares on bridge & receiver ring. Left side of action is marked "GRANITE MT. ARMS PRESCOTT, AZ." Bolt with claw extractor & pear shaped knob has Model 70 type safety in shroud. A commercial type trigger is installed. Bottom metal has deep drop box w/ hinged floorplate retained by button in trigger guard bow. Stock of attractively figured European walnut features steel capped pistol grip with trap holding spare front sight, & measures 14 1/4" over black "Universal" pad. Stock also features swept shadowline right hand cheekpiece, ebony forend tip & dual recoil bolts. Well cut borderless point pattern checkering is in 2 panels at grip & wraps around forend. A sling eye matching that on bbl. band is let into toeline. STOCK: DAH: approx. 2". DAC: approx. 1 7/8". LOP: 14 1/4". WEIGHT: 11 lbs. 14 oz. CONDITION: exceptionally fine. Metal parts retaining nearly all their gray nitride finish with only some slight operation marks evident on bolt.
