This rare circa 1899 photograph measures 5" x 6" & the image measures 4" x 3". It depicts a group of men on the bridge of a ship in turn of the century attire. The back of the photo has an inscription that reads, “Arrival of Winston Churchill from Delagoa on bridge”. This rare photograph of Winston Churchill was taken in South Africa shortly after Churchill’s escape from a Boar War prison camp. His escape was celebrated around the Empire after he presented himself at the British Consulate at Delagoa Bay, Portuguese East Africa. The photograph was later included in the autumn 1987 issue of the “Finest Hour”, the publication of the International Churchill Society. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: a copy of the autumn 1987 publication, “Finest Hour”. Also included is information about the Boar War & Churchill’s escape from captivity. CONDITION: photo is crisp & clear.
