BRASS CANNON BARREL QUEEN ANNE BOXLOCK FLINTLOCK
PISTOL BY JOHN BUNNY OF LONDON. Cal. 58. NSN. Bbl. 5 1/8" turned brass, unmarked except for "1" behind wrench lug. Matching number is on brass action & frame which is stamped w/ London black powder proofs & maker's mark "IB" under a crown (John Bunny working in London in the mid 1700s). His name is also engraved in scroll surrounded riband on left side of action & "London" is on right. Iron flintcock is reinforced & frizzen has flush mounted spring. Iron trigger guard slides forward to act as safety. Flared knob grip is of dense European walnut & terminates in unhallmarked silver grotesque mask. Shell pattern chinoiserie decoration is at top of grip. CONDITION: good. Brass cleaned, toning back to a golden hue & has many minor marks and dings. Iron parts are mostly gray patina. Stock has light wear, silver wire is intact. Details of mask are strong. Mechanically good. PROVENANCE: The Estate Collection of Gary Parietti. (01-19255/MGM). ANTIQUE. $1,500-2,500.
