BRITISH WWI PATTERN 1908 CAVALRY SWORD.

Overall length: 44 1/2". Blade length: 35". "T" cross section single blade sword marked on right ricasso broad arrow / "SB & N" / crown "6E/E" proof / "X", & on left ricasso crown "1D/E" / "1 18" / crown "1D/E". Spine marked "P / .08" indicating Pattern 08. Large dome handguard has various unit marks in a superposed order. Brown checkered bakelite grip w/ thumb rest on spine. Appropriate metal scabbard w/ "R.M.C. / 60." on throat. Sword appears to have been issued to Canadian troops w/ distinct "C & broad arrows" marks on blade, handguard & scabbard. CONDITION: very good blade. Good handguard w/ patina, oxidation & sm. dents, most notable oxidation on inside of handguard. Intact grip w/ wear. Scabbard & pommel has dark brown patina appearance w/ marks & sm. dents. (02-16685/MD). $300-500.
