Persian Mauser style bolt-action long rifle chambered for 7.92x57mm (8mm Mauser) ammunition, and manufactured by CZ Brno, Czechoslovakia. Imported by SAMCO out of Miami, FL. Produced under contract between 1931 and 1938 for the Iranian government. These were considered some of the finest Mausers ever produced for export. Rifle features a blued finish, stripper clip guide cut into receiver, 30-inch barrel, protected inverted 'V' front sight, elevation adjustable tangent rear sight graduated to 2000 meters using Farsi script, smooth curved trigger, milled trigger guard with sling swivel, 'H' style front barrel band with a stacking swivel, bayonet lug, cleaning rod under barrel, internal magazine with military style floorplate, no bolt, and no bolt release. The hardwood furniture consists of a smooth semi-pistol gripped shoulder stock, smooth full-length finger grooved forend, smooth handguard, sling swivel on the rear barrel band, sling swivel on the bottom of the shoulder stock, stock disc on the right side of the shoulder stock, and a smooth metal butt plate. A Persian crest is marked on the receiver ring depicting a Lion and Sun. The left receiver rail is marked with the serial numbers in Arabic numerals, and the rifle model designation in script, “Rifle Model 1309 BRNO Arms Factory”. '1309' is the Iranian year that corresponds to the Western year of 1929, being the contract year. The right side of the receiver is stamped with Persian acceptance marks. The right side of the shoulder stock is marked with serial numbers and acceptance marks in script. The right side of the shoulder stock is marked with '25', and what looks like 'B.S.A. 4' . The B.S.A marking could be a reference to Birmingham Small Arms Company, a major British arms manufacturer, and a rack or unit number (4) for refurbishment. The original blued finish retained is approximately 98% with some edge wear, small blemishes, and uneven mottled bluing on the barrel. Metal displays no deformation, but there looks to be a light dusting of rust on the front sight. Bore is bright with strong rifling, and the action is missing a bolt. The hardwood furniture is in good condition with normal handling marks.
