British made single-shot lever operated tilting block rifle chambered for .218 Bee. The Martini Cadet rifles were built by BSA and sold to the Australian Commonwealth. BSA and Greener originally made these rifles for military cadets in the late 1890’s and the early 1900s when Australia mandated a marksmanship training program. Many of these rifles were converted to sporting or target rifles by firearm manufacturers post WWII. Some of the original Cadet Martinis, as well as converted rifles, were imported into the United States beginning in the late 1950’s. Rifle features blued arsenal refinish, a 23" tapered barrel with a recessed crown, barrel drilled and tapped for optic mounting blocks (installed), no provisions for iron sights, serrated curved trigger, finger lever mounted at the wrist, cocking indicator on the right side of the breech block, and a shell extractor. The hardwood furniture consists of a smooth straight gripped shoulder stock, long military style forend with a metal end cap, sling swivels on the barrel band and the bottom of the shoulder stock, and a smooth metal butt plate. A Weaver B6 fixed 6x rifle scope with plain crosshairs, is mounted to the barrel utilizing 3/4" tow-piece rings. The receiver is marked "MADE BY THE BIRMINGHAM SMALL ARMS Co Ltd" on the left side, "TRADE MARKS" with BSA’s stacked rifle logo, and "BSA" under it all. The receiver's right side is marked "COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA", "VIC" on the second line, and number "30185" on the bottom. Serial number "75075" is marked in the top right quadrant of the receiver's right side. The top of the receiver ring is marked with a kangaroo, and a British proof mark on the right side. The left-rear of the breech-block has a British proof mark. The blued finish retained is approximately 94% with some thinning on the receiver, light edge wear, and some light handling blemishes. Metal displays some screw slot deformation, and oxidation was observed by the screws on the barrel, and on the trigger guard. Furniture wood is in excellent condition with minor impressions, and superficial scratches. Action is smooth and crisp, and the bore is bright with strong rifling. Scope's sight picture is a little cloudy and yellow, but the glass is dirty. Rifle includes a beige nylon sling.
Condition is NRA Good.
