Rifle. Single-Shot. Falling block Action. British military Martini-action single shot service rifle chambered in .577/450, produced by Birmingham Small Arms & Metals Company in 1889. Right receiver stamped Crown over "V.R." (Queen Victoria) "BSA&M Co." Small crown over broad arrow "II" "2". Numerous British Proofs on rifle. Features a 33.2" barrel, fixed blade front sight, flip-up ladder rear sight, cleaning rod, two barrel bands with bayonet lug on the front band, serrated trigger, sling swivels, full-length smooth wood forend and straight grip shoulder stock with smooth metal buttplate. Marked "NS NEP" to the left of the rear sight. (For transfer to Native State Nepal). No Nepalese markings on metal, but left rear stock has 4 Nepalese characters. Right stock has "Fort William Arsenal" cartouche. Rifle retains some of it's thinned blued refinish but the majority of the metal surfaces have turned to an aged brown patina. Action performs well, bore is dark with scattered pin prick pitting , rifling present. Wood stocks are good with many small scratches/dings. Rifle comes with repro white leather sling. NRA Condition-Very good. Antique firearm.
