British military blued bolt-action rifle made in 1939 at the Birmingham Small Arms factory. Import marked. Barrel is 25-1/2" long. This rifle has a barrel liner and bolt conversion to .22 rimfire caliber. Bluing has lots of edge wear. The letters "DP" (for Drill Purpose) are stamped on the receiver ring and barrel. There is a brass oiler under the trap door in the brass butt plate. The butt plate is worn and dull with many dings. The wood stock has the letters "D.P." carved and painted into the butt stock with a white band painted around the stock ahead of the receiver. The butt stock is missing the brass disc and some chips at the receiver joint. The fore stock well and truly battered with a replacement rear upper handguard. Bore is bright and shiny with rifling. Action is good but there is no safety lever. The follower and spring have been removed from the mag body in order to act as a receptacle for spent .22 cases. Condition is fair. *Modern Firearm*
