A all-matching BSW 1939 K98k is a rare German World War II service rifle made by the Berlin-Suhler Waffen-und Fahrzeugwerke factory, Berlin-Suhler Waffen (BSW) built these early Karabiner 98k rifles.Year:1939 (First year of the war) marked the end of the short BSW production period before codes changed to Gustloffwerke ("bcd"). Original matching 1939 BSW rifles are very scarce, and many found today are mismatched or altered. Chamber marked "BSW 1939", lower barrel marked "bys" ( Ruhrstahl AG, Witten), right chamber marked "C" and eagle/swastika over "4", Waffenamt code (WaA4), used by the Heereswaffenamt team stationed specifically at the BSW factory in Suhl, Weimar proofs next to serial numbers on left barrel & chamber, barrel proof has "4" under it. "1" eagle/swastika proofs on barrel bands, bolt handle, rear sight, butt plate, extractor & floorplate, "4" eagle/swastika proofs on left barrel below the rear sight both sides of the stock take-down disc, "Waffenamt/655" on bolt release & bolt shroud (Mauser-Werke AG, Oberndorf am Neckar) used between 1939 and 1941, front trigger guard marked "waffenamt eagle//26", Mauser Borsigwalde, the front trigger guard screw has eagle/63, Mauser, Oberndorf, the magazine follower is marked "B', small eagle/swastika proof and "C", Mauser Borsigwalde. The full serial number "1736" is on the barrel, chamber, both barrel bands, bolt, safety, rear of bolt, bolt shroud, floor plate, trigger guard, buttplate, times on the rear sight parts and underside of stock, the partial serial number "36" is on the two triggerguard screws, bayonet lug & bolt release. Rear of the bolt has an eagle/WaW waffenamt with the number hard to make out, the underside of the stock below the serial number is stamped waffenamt eagle/WaA18, Gustloff-Werke with a "C" below it. Has all the features the standard K98k rifle, tangent rear sights, H type front barrel band,early smooth steel buttplate. Cleaning rod. Steel muzzle cover, waffenamt "eagle/63"attached, (Mauser-Werke, Oberndorf), original k98k brown leather sling, keeper marked "L&F" (Linden & Funke KG, Iserlohn). The bore is excellent/bright, strong rifling, action is smooth, the laminated stock is very good with minor scratches/dings and the original deep blue/black finish is about 85-90% with edge/handling wear. Vet bring-back with no import marks.
