Vintage American made side-lock side-by-side shotgun chambered for 2-3/4" 12 Gauge shells, and manufactured by Baker Gun & Forging Co. out of Batavia, N.Y. (1887-1919). Considered to be one of Americas classic shotguns. Featuring Cockrill steel and a blued refinish, it has approximately 30" barrels, both bores chokes measure 'Full' with a drop-in gauge, extractor, brass bead front sight, double smooth curved triggers, serrated tang mounted sliding manual safety, hammerless design, and stippled action lever. The hardwood furniture consists of a semi-pistol gripped shoulder stock with checkering at the wrist, a checkered splinter forend, black plastic checkered grip cap, 14" length-of-pull to the front trigger, 1-3/4" drop at the comb, 3-1/4" drop at the heel, and a serrated black plastic butt plate. This shotgun is an example of an excellent total refinish of the wood and metal, the metal was blued (originally black oxide), and the wood was checkered and refinished. The barrels and trigger guard are hand engraved (not factory) with limited coverage of floral scrolls. The blued metal finish retained is approximately 99% with little to speak of. The metal displays no deformation, but there are a few small and light spots of rust on the barrels. The action is smooth, the barrels fall under their own weight, and the action lever is aligned to the center of the tang. The hardwood furniture is in very good to excellent condition as refinished with light handling blemishes. The bores are smooth, but appear to have some spots of corrosion.
