SN: 48973 'Sterling Grade' Early American single barrel boxlock trap shotgun chambered for 2 3/4" 12 gauge shells, circa 1900's-1920's. The Baker Gun & Forging Co. of Batavia, New York was founded in early 1890 and was the first American arms company to make a single barrel trap shotgun. Features a blued finish, 32" barrel with replaced sighting rib, high contrast orange bead front sight, silver bead mid-sight, ejector, CYL Choke, engraved flat side receiver with bird dog on the left side & two woodcock on the right side, smooth trigger, knurled top lever, lever release checkered walnut beavertail forearm and figured walnut pistol grip shoulder stock with checkering at the wrist, & a black rubber recoil. All visible serial numbers are matching. Shotgun exhibits approximately 80% of it's original finish on the receiver and the barrel retains nearly all of it's blued refinish showing light scattered wear & oxidation. Action performs well, bore is good and wood forend is good showing a small chip at the front on the left side. LOP is 14 1/4". Comes with a Franchi brown leather take-down case, felt lined, very good condition. Name plate on the lid, Condition is NRA good. ***C&R Firearm***
