After the amazing shootPorter Rockwell traded Cody a span of white horses for this rifle. Whipple states he obtained the rifle in 1885 from Josh Whitman of the Whitman Campbell saloon who obtained the rifle from Horace Rockwell, grandson ofPorter Rockwell.
