Finely Engraved Liege Proofed Damascus Double Barrel Hammer Side by Side Shotgun with gold inlays. Manufactured 1893 to 1921 ( Liege ELG proof has crown and no single letter date code on barrel flats) Solid rib on the 27 1/2' barrels has a gold inlay "Damas Crolle Fin" which means the barrels are a fine highly-figured scroll-like aesthetic pattern of Damascus steel, rear of the barrels have a gold inlaid border, rear of the rib is marked "Gun With Smokeless Powder Proved". Fine scroll/floral engraved receiver, triggerguard, hammer and lever, side locks have gold inlaid walking partridge on one side and flying partridge on the other, bottom of triggerguard has gold inlaid Pointer dog's head. Serial number matched on watertable and forearm metal, Watertable marked "FN" in circle, (Fabrique Nationale d’Armes de Guerre). Checkered splinter forearm with Deeley release, straight wrist shoulder stock with horn buttplate depicting stag & does in the forest, sling swivels, German silver shield inlayed in the uderside of the stock, double triggers, top lever, exposed hammers, no extractors, bores measure CLY. Bores have light pitting throughout, one click hammer actions are smooth, the metal has turned a gray patina with use & age, the wood is good/sound with worn checkering, many minor scratches/dings. The left hammer screw is missing. NOTE*-Do not attempt to fire modern ammunition in this shotgun.
