Belgian Percussion 2-Band Military Short Rifle, #193, .69 cal., 24" round barrel has "ELG (star)" Liege mark and two other proof marks at top of the 2.5" octagonal breech section, blade front and tall notched rear sights; flat lock marked "Glukman/1862/Birmingham" in oval (likely the selling dealer), a "(crown)/JC" mark at front and "193" on nipple bolster, has "tubular" style hammer; brass furniture includes loop trigger guard, buttplate, winged lock screw escutcheons, nosecap; oil-finished hardwood stock has raised panels either side of lock, sling swivel at belly, 2 steel clamping bands (top with sling swivel), button-tip steel ramrod. Mfg'd ca. 1862. Condition is good, the barrel and bands showing clean smooth metal having light discoloration, silvered-out case colors, moderate age patina to brass. Stock is sound showing two 3.5"-4" grain cracks either side of butt, several small nicks but otherwise smooth, and a later coat of varnish. Edges and markings are sharp. Action is strong, bore is clean showing overall light oxidation and sharp rifling. Est.: $500-$700. (Antique)
