Description: Journey into the heart of southern Belize for an unforgettable bird watching adventure with Safari Unlimited. Nestled deep in the jungle along the peaceful Moho River, our remote eco-lodge places you in the center of one of the most biodiverse regions in Central America. Surrounded by rainforest, river systems, coastal habitats, and the southern reaches of the Maya Mountains, this is a paradise for birders and wildlife enthusiasts alike.

Belize is home to more than 600 species of birds, offering incredible opportunities to observe everything from colorful toucans, motmots, and parrots to kingfishers, trogons, hawks, herons, and elusive jungle species. Every excursion throughout your stay becomes a birding experience with our guides who are well versed in local species. Glide quietly along the Moho River by kayak or boat while spotting riverside species hidden in the canopy. Explore lush jungle trails alive with the calls of exotic birds and the movement of monkeys overhead. Venture toward the coast to observe seabirds, wading birds, and migratory species feeding in the mangroves and flats. Travel into the foothills of the Maya Mountains where dense rainforest ecosystems create prime habitat for some of Belize’s rarest birds. Over 100 species of birds can be observed just within our lodge property alone! Seasonal trips to see the Red Macaws can be arranged from November - March.

The wildlife extends far beyond birding alone. Along the river and jungle you may encounter howler monkeys, iguanas, coatimundis, butterflies, tropical frogs, crocodiles, and countless other species that thrive in this untouched environment. The rainforest truly awakens your senses from sunrise to sunset.

Between birding excursions, guests can experience the many wonders of southern Belize. Visit ancient Mayan ruins hidden in the jungle, swim beneath waterfalls, learn the history of cacao and chocolate production on a local cacao farm tour, or explore the vibrant market day in Punta Gorda filled with local fruits, vegetables, seafood, and culture.

Our lodge itself is part of the experience. Completely off-grid and solar powered, the property offers a peaceful and intimate escape with accommodations for up to 20 guests. Elevated cabanas sit 16 feet above the ground overlooking the slow-moving Moho River, immersing you fully in the sights and sounds of the jungle canopy. We grow fresh crops on-site, harvest wild tropical fruits, and raise our own chickens and goats to provide an authentic farm-to-table dining experience.

After a day spent exploring Belize’s incredible ecosystems and observing its spectacular birdlife, enjoy a gourmet four-course dinner prepared by our chef before drifting off to sleep to the distant calls of howler monkeys and the sounds of the jungle surrounding your cabana.

This is more than a bird watching trip. It is an immersive journey into one of the wildest and most beautiful corners of Belize. Want to see all sides of Belize? Add on a weekend in the coastal town of Placencia as you travel down to us! Snorkel for conch and lobster enjoy Caribbean beaches, beautiful reefs and phenomenal offshore fishing to give you a well rounded Belizean adventure! This and more awaits you......
