Collar #3 was deployed in 2015 for a Psoroptic Mange research and management project funded by the Wild Sheep Society of BC, and the Habitat Conservation Trust Fund. This collar was deployed on a ram in 2015, and said ram was coming up to his 3rd birthday at the time of capture. He was expertly net gunned by Canadian Wildlife Capture, and Ministry Staff. This ram continued to live for years and this collar was removed several years later once the battery had died and a new collar deployed on the ram.

#3 Ram contributed scientific data that was/is being analyzed to monitor habitat information on the landscape in the Okanagan of BC. #3, is still alive on the landscape (outfitted with a new collar), and he will continue to provide information that can be used to monitor populations, distribution, and habitat use.

Studying bighorn sheep by monitoring radio-collared individuals with GPS collars that upload locations to satellites. The satellite transmitter sends data about an individual’s location to a web site or via email. Lambs are especially susceptible to pneumonia so we intensively monitor ewes and lambs from birth to weaning. Data from these collars are the basis of solid research around this disease. The information about survival, location, reproduction, and habitat is to improve the understanding of pneumonia transmission dynamics across the landscape of British Columbia.

Every dollar raised from this auction item will go directly to Mycoplasma Ovipneumoniae research in British Columbia, and to help eradicate it from the landscape.
