French military marked ( Stars on heel) single action semi-automatic pistol chambered in 7.65mm Browning, manufactured in the Eibar region of Spain by Bonifacio Echeverria circa WW1. In 1915 the French military was in short supply of small arms and contracted with Gabilondo y Urresti for the Ruby pistol, ultimately accepting around 710,000 pistol from several different Spanish makers. Features a blued finish, 3.3” barrel, full-length steel guide rod, fixed round blade front sight, ‘v’ notched rear sight, smooth trigger, manual safety on the left side of the frame, heel magazine release, 9 round magazine, steel frame with lanyard loop on the left side and two-piece checkered wood grips. Matching serial numbers are found on the slide, frame. Other markings: Slide – BONIFACIO VCHEVERRIA (ESPANA) EIBAR", “PISTOLE AUTOMATICA ” & TZARRA 7.65. Frame – circled “I”. Pistol shows thinned bluing with handling loss mostly to the slide, edge wear. Action is sound, the bore is very good/bright and the wood grips are good with wear.
