American made single-shot hammerless striker fired falling-block rifle chambered for .45-70 Government, and manufactured in Silver City, NM. Original rifle was designed by German-American immigrant gunsmith Hugo Borchardt, and manufactured by the Sharps Rifle Manufacturing Company from 1878 until 1881. This is one of the top five strongest single-shot rifle designs ever produced, and the parts on this rifle are interchangeable with the originals (with some fitting). Rifle features a gloss blue finish, billet receiver hardened to 44-48 Rockwell (either 4140 or 8620 steel), an approximately 30" half octagon barrel (made by Badger as standard or Douglas by request), Globe front sight with blade insert, square notched rear flip-up sight with a flip-up elevator (elevator is not graduated, and the slider moves freely), tang rear sight mount, smooth curved trigger, manual sliding safety behind trigger, and the trigger guard doubles as cocking lever. The select grade fancy walnut furniture consists of a semi-pistol gripped Monte Carlo style shoulder stock with checkering at the wrist, checkered forend with an ebony tip, smooth contoured black grip cap, and checkered black plastic butt plate. Receiver, lever, and breach block are case hardened with the lever and breach block hardened to 56-58 Rockwell. The original blued finish retained is approximately 99% with superficial blemishes, and the receiver taking on a plum color. Metal displays no rust, or deformation. Action is smooth and crisp, and the bore is bright with strong rifling. The furniture wood is excellent condition with very few and minor handling blemishes.
Condition is NRA Excellent.
