Breaking News
Considerable interest has been shown for the hunt that was reserved for auction Saturday evening. SCI Calgary has agreed with the outfitter for them to sell it directly at this time instead of at the auction, and so it has been withdrawn.

We want to thank all those who expressed their support of the hunt, including the people of Botswana to determine their future, and for the role ethical controlled hunting plays in the long term conservation of this majestic species.

Please join us in thanking Bill Boycott and Kwatale Safaris for this 14-day hunt to take place within the NG43 concession in Botswana (in the vicinity of Moremi Game Reserve and Chobe National Park), a great African hunting area. You will be met when you arrive and depart from the regional airport at Maun, which has regular flights from Johannesburg and is 2 - 3 hours to the lodge.

Hunting has recently re-opened in Botswana as the elephant herd has grown beyond the carrying capacity. As Botswana’s president, Mokgweetsi E. K. Masisi, explained on his official Facebook page, the reasoning behind the decision to lift the hunting ban speaks for itself: The elephant herd has grown from around 50,000 in 1991 to more than 130,000. There has been a sharp increase in the number of dangerous human-elephant interactions, resulting in widespread destruction of crops, livestock and property. The government wants to restore the elephant’s economic value to rural populations, which will provide local communities with a strong incentive to protect elephants and other wildlife from habitat loss, poaching, and anything else that threatens their survival. Hunt will also provide valuable employment for the Botswana citizens whose livelihoods were decimated when hunting was shut down in 2014.

Included in this package are 16 days on the ground, consisting of 14 full days dangerous game guiding and two travel days, meet and greet at the airport, transport to and from camp, PH, tracker, lodging at a first-class camp, and meals/alcohol, and the trophy fee for ONE best available bull elephant. There is no sliding scale fee on the elephant trophy size. Also included are all taxes, VAT, Concession Fee, License Fee, and field preparation of the trophy.

Items not included in the donation are any extra hunting days, taxidermy, dipping and shipping of trophies, and gratuities. Observers are welcome, and the rates are $300 US/day/observer.

The season opens April 7th, and the hunt will be scheduled between May and September in 2020. You should contact Kwatale immediately, but no later than three weeks after the auction to identify the time you would want to hunt. Bill has reserved one hunt for the SCI Calgary auction, and there is considerable demand for this opportunity. Only with payment of the initial 50% will they reserve your hunting dates, so the earlier the better.

Potential bidders need to assess if they can import the ivory into their country of residence.

Should you have any queries or would like to upgrade this hunt, please contact Bill at info@Kwatale.com or visit their website www.kwatalesafaris.com. We thank Bill Boycott and Kwatale Safaris for this amazing donation and his support of SCI Calgary.
