Brace of large European cavalry pistols for the Ottoman market, circa 1780-1825. Walnut stocked profusely inlaid in silver decoration with floral motifs and wood carved panoply of arms. Trigger guard in brass to one and steel the other, each engraved (NONONO). Round barrels with relief decoration in steel and inscribed with additional writing. Barrel stuck with hammer mark of a crown over inverted (P) and (I). Especially finely made flintlock mechanism with fine European quality engraving matching remainder. Size 19" L, barrel 12 1/4" L, barrel width .65". Condition: wear commensurate with age an use. Minor looseness or absent inlay.. Provenance: Ex-Private USA Collection

When identical absentee bids are submitted the auctioneer will accept the first bid presented at his or her discretion. The highest bidder as determined by the auction house shall be responsible to pay for the hammer, buyer's premium and any applicable sales tax. Ownership of lots shall not be transitioned to the respective winning bidder until the auction house is satisfied with all funds being transferred and cleared to the auction house's account. All sales are final. Buyers have 10 days to arrange for removal of lots from the auction houses facility. After 10 days the auction house reserves the right to charge a $5 storage fee for each additional day until the lots have been removed. The auction house reserves the right to relist and sell any lots which have accrued a storage fee larger than the hammer plus buyer's premium total for a given lot. Shipping and safe delivery of the lots is the buyer's responsibility. The auction house reserves the right to update or remove any lot listed at the auction house's discretion.
