Bridesburg U.S. Model 1861 Civil War Percussion Musket, #NVSN, .58 cal., 40" barrel, blued finish, walnut stock, standard blade front sight, and three position "U"-notch rear sight. The musket was manufactured by Alfred Jenks & Son at the Bridesburg Machine Works in Pennsylvania. Barrel is marked "1863" with "V P (Eagle)/F.H. at the back. Lockplate is marked "1863" behind the hammer and "(Eagle)U.S./BRIDESBURG" in front. Barrel bands are marked "U" on the right. Bluing is very good on the lockplate, trigger plate, buttplate, and the barrel bands. Barrel is in the white, with light scattered patina, and pitting at the nipple area. Stock has a boxed cartouche on the left and a "W" scratched on the left near the buttplate. Stock appears to have been lightly sanded and oiled; now in very good condition, with scattered moderate marks, and some dark streaks in front of the trigger guard. Action works properly. Bore is good, with pronounced rifling and some light pitting. Est.: $1,200-$1,800. (Antique)
