British East India 3rd Model Brown Bess Flintlock Musket, 1806
Antique British Military 3rd Model known as the India attern brown bess flintlock service musket, circa. 1790-1810. Round steel barrel is approximately 38.75" long with a .75 caliber. Marked to the barrel with two large British Royal Armory Tower proofs. Lock marked "TOWER", a "CROWN" over "GR" (King George III). The lock is in its original flintlock configuration. Brass regulation furniture has been recently polished with the trigger guard missing the front of the finial. Stock was branded with a regimental designation on the left side of the comb and then later scratched out. Size 54". Condition: Barrel surface porosity and pitting w/dark age patina and the touch hole has been re-bushed. Overall the stock is solid with some areas of erosion with normal scratches and dings from years of service. Provenance: Ex-Southern California Collection
