British Mark 1 Magazine Lee-Enfield Bolt Action Rifle, with Bayonet and Scabbard, #7436, .303 British cal., 30.2'' barrel, blued finish, hardwood stock, blade on ramp front sight with adjustable folding leaf rear sight. Marked on right side of action body ''(crown V.R.)/L.S.A. Co L (faded)/1896 LE 1''; ''E'' on chamber flat. Right side of buttstock has roundel cartouche ''BSA &M Co. BIRMINGHAM'' around Broad Arrow. Buttplate tang is unit marked ''(Broad Arrow) 4/02 5CMR 154''. Long range dial sight, aperture, and dustcover are fitted. Matching number on bolt handle. Condition overall is very good with approx. 90% of the reblued finish remaining on metal surfaces, with fading and patina on barrel and bands. The replaced buttstock is in very good condition with scratches and handling marks. Forend has a hairline crack in the right side above the trigger, and both the handguard and forend have been refinished with a gloss varnish. Bore is very good; action, magazine cutoff, and thumb safety operate smoothly. Clearing rod and good condition unmarked leather sling are included. Pattern 1888 bayonet (late Mark 1) is stamped on ricasso ''(crown)/V.R 9 '96 WILKINSON LONDON'' and ''(broad arrow)/WD'' over an ''X'' bend mark. Leather frog is stamped ''JOHN BOYLE & CO. 1915''. Condition overall is very good with old sharpening to the blade and overall light handling marks and scratches. Scabbard has an open crack on the leather and overall light wear and scratches.
