Belgian made semi-automatic shotgun chambered for 2-3/4" 12 Gauge shotshells, and imported by Browning Arms Company out of St. Louis, MO. Designed by John Moses Browning, this is a light weight version of the Auto-5. This A5 was manufactured circa 1956 with the St. Louis barrel address and Belgian proof marks on the left side of the barrel, and 'Made in Belgium" on the right side of the barrel. Shotgun features a blued finish, a 27-1/2" ventilation ribbed barrel (measurement includes the adjustable choke/brake), adjustable Poly-Choke, brass bead front sight, checkered magazine cut-off on the left side of the receiver, metal trigger guard, smooth curved gold-toned trigger, annular cut bolt release on the right side of the receiver, checkered charging handle, and checkered cross-bolt manual safety on the trigger guard. The hardwood furniture consists of a round knob pistol gripped shoulder stock with checkering at the wrist, elaborate 'Automatic Browning' embossed composite butt plate, 14-1/2" length-of-pull, 1-5/8" drop at comb, 2-3/8" drop at heel, and a finger grooved checkered forend. Shotgun displays limited coverage of floral scrolls and edge designs on the receiver, trigger guard, and tangs. The original blued metal finish is about 94% with minor scratches, light edge wear, and contact wear from disassembly. The metal shows light oxidation around the edge of the Poly-Choke, and some on the ventilation rib. The vent rib is also dented about mid-length. The action is smooth and crisp, and the bore shows a little peppering. The furniture wood is in fair condition with minor scratches and dings, small impressions, and a crack on the bottom of the forend.
Condition is NRA Fair to Good.
