SN: 6871. Pre-War Belgium made over and under box-lock shotgun chambered for 2 3/4" 12 Gauge shells, manufactured circa 1934. (3rd year of production) Imported by Browning Arms Company, St. Louis, MO. Featuring period upgrades, blued finish, coin finished receiver & trigger guard, 28" special order vent ribbed barrels, a lot less common than the standard solid rib, (Could be ordered for an extra $20.00 at the time) fixed chokes marked for "IC over Skeet", measure M over Skeet, double ejectors, period correct upgrade of red bead front sight, small white mid bead in figure 8 alignment, single selective trigger with traces of case color, selector beside the left trigger, tang mounted checkered sliding safety, long lower tang, and a checkered top lever. Features elaborate floral scrollwork alongside distinct scenes of flushed or flying pigeons on the receiver. Pre-war versions (manufactured between 1932 and 1941) are celebrated by collectors for having about 50% larger pigeon figures and distinct engraving characteristics compared to post-war models. The receiver, top lever, and trigger guard and tangs display full coverage of beautiful floral scroll engravings, edge designs. The walnut furniture consists of a round-knob "Prince of Wales" pistol gripped shoulder stock with checkering at the wrist, correct non-detachable, sliding checkered "Beavertail" forend with Deeley latch release,scroll/floral engraving fittings, the beavertail forearm is also a period special order at an extra $20.00. Vented rubber Pachmayr recoil pad with six black & white spacers.14 1/4" length-of-pull, 1-3/4" drop at comb, 2-1/4" drop at heel. The original blued finish retained is approximately 90% showing muzzle wear, scattered scratches and contact wear from the forend. Wood is in good/sound condition with semi-worn checkering, few light scattered scratches and dings, some handling wear with a little finish loss around the lower tang and a series of light scratches on the left wrist behind the receiver. Bores are excellent/bright. The action is smooth and crisp with the top lever standing right of center. Matching serial numbers.
