Vintage American made side-by-side hammerless box-lock shotgun chambered for 3" 12 Gauge shells, and manufactured in Hatfield, MA. The C.S. Shattuck Arms Co. was located in Hatfield Massachusetts circa 1877-1915 (Charles S. Shattuck Arms Co.). Shotgun features 26-3/4" barrels, brass bead front sight (flattened), fixed chokes are open, extractor, double smooth curved triggers, checkered top lever, and a serrated sliding tang safety. The refinished hardwood furniture consists of a smooth round knobbed shoulder stock, checkered Schnabel forend, 14-1/4" length-of-pull to the front trigger, 1-7/8" drop-at comb, 3-3/4" drop at heel, and a checkered black plastic factory butt plate. So much of the original finish is gone that it is hard to identify how the shotgun was finished. It looks like the barrel was originally blued, and the receiver was color-case hardened. The original finish retained is approximately 5% with most of the shotgun taking on a brown patina. Metal displays no external rust, dents and deformation on the bottom of the receiver, and some light pin-prick pitting. Bores have sparse areas of oxidation, and the action needs repair. Barrels fall easily under their own weight, and the top lever rests to the right of the tangs centerline. The hardwood furniture is in poor condition with chipping and cracks around the tang, low checkering on the forend, and handling blemishes. This shotgun is great for parts, or repair.
Condition is NRA Poor.
