"American Gunsmiths" by Frank Sellers has a listing for "SCHNEIDER, CHARLES (1820-) Boonvile, Indiana, 1855-1880, Mt. Vernon, Indiana, 1848-1854. Flintlock & percussion fullstock. (Lindert)". Unmarked back lock action. Dbl. set triggers. Pin fastened half length artificially stripped stock w/ pewter nosecap. Brass fittings consist of crescent buttplate, toeplate, finger curl trigger guard, sideplate & pin escutcheons. Right side of stock has oval lid German silver patch box. Dovetail mounted blade front sight w/ fixed U notch rear sight. Mounted behind 2 filled slots for previous sights. Replacement hardwood ramrod held on iron under rib by 2 plain iron replacement pipers. WEIGHT: 16 lbs. 3 oz. CONDITION: dark patina metal showing dents w/ heavy pitting in breech area. Stock has lg. area of added wood repair forward of lock w/ numerous cracks & chips in lock & sideplate area. Stock has added varnish over heavy dents & handling marks. "T Davidson & Co. / Cincinatti" engraved trade lock. Dbl. set triggers. Brass blade front sight w/ V notch rear sight missing elevator. Bolt fastened curly maple half stock w/ shadow line cheekpiece & pewter nosecap. Brass furniture consist of crescent buttplate, finger curl trigger guard & sideplate. Both escutcheons are German silver. Brass tipped hardwood ramrod held on iron under rib by 2 plain iron pipes. WEIGHT: 9 lbs., 5 oz. CONDITION: metal has dark patina appearance w/ pitting in breech area. Stock shows scattered dents & handling marks w/ repaired break at toe. Buttplate is bent, top screw is Phillips head replacement. Lock & triggers are functioning. Dark pitted bore. (01-18958/DS). BOTH ANTIQUE. $400-600
