CASED FRENCH FLOBERT TARGET PISTOL.

Cal. 5.5mm. S# 6267. Bbl. 8 7/8" oct. w/ smooth bore, bead front sight & fixed V notch rear sight. Left bbl. flat is marked w/ proof & S#. Original style Flobert unlocked breech action. The firing pin & extractor are formed on the breech face of the slam fire hammer. Distinctive hardwood stock features a flared fluted grip w/ raised side panels. Forearm tip has a deep relief floral pattern hand carving. Iron buttcap is sculpted to fit grip flutes & has a protruding button type lanyard fitting. Long tang finger rest trigger guard w/ fancy finial. Highlights of hand engraving are found on top tang & trigger guard bow w/ additional engraving on finial & buttcap. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: rosewood presentation case w/ brass plate in lid. Purple velour fitted interior. Case contains 2 rosewood handle cleaning rods. Upper left compartment holds 4 fire bb caps & 4 fired 22 short RF rds, 1 cal. 5.5mm rnd. ball. Circular ID tag # "517" is found in right compartment. Also included is photocopied information about Flobert from "Single Shot Rifles And Actions" by Frank de Haas. CONDITION: very fine. Bbl. retains over 80% black finish. Breech, top tang, trigger guard & buttcap have lightly faded white finish. Stock retains original darkly stained finish showing light edge wear w/ scattered sm. scratches & marks. Bore is generally bright showing sm. spots of darkness w/ faint ring about 4" from muzzle. Case exterior shows lightly worn finish w/ scattered marks. Interior has a faded worn appearance.
