CASED PAIR OF FLINTLOCK HOLSTER PISTOLS.

Cal. 63. NSN. Bbl. 6 3/4". 12 1/2" Overall, unmarked rnd. bbl. w/ brown striping, unmarked locks w/ serpentine cocks & unbridled frizzens, brass trigger guards, escutcheons & ramrod thimbles, varnished stocks w/ oval cartouches w/ 3 script initials. Pistols are housed in mahogany casing w/ green lining & several accessories. Silver 4 1/2x3" plaque has suspect inscription “Master R. L. Dexter / New Bedford, Mass / 1837 / Bark Clarice”. There is also a faked receipt for the guns folded in case. Regardless, pistols are very nice original condition. CONDITION: pistols are very good to fine. Bbl. retains about half of their thinning brown finish, bbl. tangs have traces of fire blue. Case hardened locks are dark silver/gray patina. Stocks are sound & well fit retaining most of their original varnish w/ scattered cosmetic dings & dents. Mechanically fine w/ smooth clear bores. Casing is good as are accompanying tools, the 3 compartment powder flask has extra flints in bottom compartment. The scissor mold is 26 bore, too small for these pistols. (01-19985/JS). ANTIQUE. $1,000-1,500.
