PISTOLS RETAILED BY LEFAURE PARIS. BOTH: cal. approx. 50. Both NSN. Bbls. 9 3/4" oct. Unmarked bbls. w/ engraved steel breech plugs & bbl. tangs. Pistols feature similarly engraved hammers, locks, trigger guards, buttcaps, lock screw escutcheons & bbl. wedges. Dark, hardwood stocks. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: hardwood case measuring 18 1/4" x 10” x 3 1/8” is lined in purple velvet w/ gold markings that read, “L. LEFAURE A’ PARIS”. The lid of the box has a 2” brass shield shaped escutcheon w/ the initials, “F.B”. Compartmentalized case contains a brass rammer, an ebony & brass cleaning rod, a powder flask, an ebony mallet, 2 turned ebony rnd. boxes w/ 1 containing caps, a brass powder scoop, ebony handled nipple wrench, scissor type steel bullet mold & a pewter oiler. The exterior of the case shows moderate wear throughout & is missing its key escutcheon plate. The interior lid liner has 2 bleached areas, likely from oil on the percussion locks. The interior base shows moderate to heavy wear & several spots of discoloration to the purple velvet. The brass rammer has a broken handle. Mallet shows wear to its faces. Other items show expected light to moderate wear. CONDITION: it appears the pistols were refinished in the period. Bbls. have nearly a complete blued finish. Steel has a uniform light gray finish. Wood has a fine, satin, reoiled finish. 1 Pistol has a sm. crack between the breech plug & lock screw escutcheon. There is a second sm. crack at the inside of the buttcap. This pistol also has a broken nipple. Both pistols hold full & half cock. Bore near excellent. (01-17363/BF). ANTIQUE. $3,000-5,000.
