FLINTLOCK MUSKET IN FINE CONDITION. Cal. 69. NSN. Bbl. 40 1/4", marked "MP" in front of touch hole. "MP" is also stamped on interior of lock & of top spur of cock, matching marks on bbl. Lock w/ rounded tail, reinforced cock, inset brass pan, bridled frizzen & feather spring w/ bulbous finial is engraved "CHARLEVILLE" in front of cock. Assembly number "8" is on all sm. parts of lock. Walnut stock has dished out left side of comb & is iron mounted. Trigger guard has finger grooves. Stock attaches to bbl. w/ 3 spring retained bands. Sling loops are present as is original ramrod w/ lg. flared head. CONDITION: very fine. Metal parts retaining most of what appears to be their bright polish w/ evidence of some light cleaning & overall rusting on bbl. & buttplate. Stock appears to have added oil over it's original finish. Lock is crisp. Bore lightly rusted. A nice example of the "AK-47" of it's day. Some 7 million were mfg. in many variants & used in all 4 corner's of the world for over a century. PROVENANCE: The Estate Collection of Gary Parietti. (01-19775/MGM). ANTIQUE. $2,000-3,000.
