FOOT OFFICER’S SWORD. Overall length: 38 3/4". Blade length: 29 1/2". Blade has a single wide fuller and is etching over 1/3 of its length with various military & foliate motifs. Brass hilt likely originally gold plated features a downturned quillon and American eagle on the front languet. Plain guard & knuckle bow. Well executed Indian Princess pommel with 2 piece mother of pearl grips that are wire wrapped. Highly embellished brass scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a very dark patina, but etching is discernable. Hilt is a bit loose and shows wear with no remaining gilding. One grip panel has a very tiny chip near the pommel. Wire is complete. Scabbard has several shallow dents and a very dark patina. There is an added band repair at the lower suspension ring. (02-19283/BF). $400-550.
