CIRCA 1820-1845 INFANTRY FOOT OFFICER’S SWORD
WITH INDIAN HEAD POMMEL. Overall length: 37". Blade length: 31 1/2". Blade has a single wide fuller with foliate & military etching over the first 1/4 of the blade. Gilded brass hilt with downturned quillon and American eagle decorated languets. Classical motif knuckle bow is embellished with oak leaves, bellflowers & scrollwork. The pommel is a well articulated bust of an Indian Princess with headdress. 2 Piece wire wrapped mother of pearl grips. No scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a medium gray mottled patina and shows no evidence of original gold highlights on the engraving or a blued field. Hilt retains 70% of original gilded finish. Grips are undamaged.
