MORE. 1) CIVIL WAR & POST WAR MILITARIA & RELATED ITEMS. This lot consists of 1 M1864 US 58 cal. cartridge box having a brass “US” oval plate of unknown age added to the front. There is an inspector’s mark on the right hand corner of the front flap & the rear is marked, “S.H. YOUNG & CO. NEWARK N.J.”. No interior marks. Both tins are present. / 1 M1858 US 58 cal. cartridge box having a brass “US” oval plate on the front. Inside flap marked, “E. GAYLORD CHICOPEE MASS.”. Tins are present but bottom buckles & closing thong are missing or broken. / 1 M1858 US 58 cal. cartridge box missing its brass plate on the front. There appears to be no interior or exterior markings. Tins are missing. Both bottom buckles are present. A badly deteriorated partial sling is included. / 1 Leather Indian War period waist belt w/ keeper but no buckle. / 2 Mismatched New York Militia gray, black & white shoulder boards. / 1 Wooden covered container holding 10 dice. / 1 Screw top turned lignum vitae ink well. / 1 Tin snuff box w/ a shield on the front. / 1 Patent 1860 tin eye glass case. / 1 Pair of brass spurs. Canteen has noticeable dents. / 1 Militia or southern tin canteen painted black having an unfinished spout. No sling. / 1 Ovoid militia or southern tin canteen having an oxidized finish. No sling or stopper. / 1 Carved wooden canteen having a carved flower on 1 side & 2 headed crowned eagle on the other. / 1 Carved wooden canteen having carved concentric circles on both sides. / 1 Copper conical screw top canteen, possibly for lamp oil. / 1 US smooth side canteen having no cover, sling or stopper.
