CONVERSION OF US SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1816 FLINTLOCK MUSKET WITH BAYONET. Cal. 69. NSN (mfg. 1826 & converted 1862). Smoothbore 42" bbl. w/ "1862" date & 1861 style 2 leaf rear sight. Bolster type conversion marked "H&P". 1826 Dated Springfield lock. 3 Band walnut stock w/ iron furniture & replacement tulip tipped ramrod. Trigge rguard stamped "DP". Toeline of stock has "LH" inspector stamp & "JS" appearing cartouche. Right side of buttstock has hand carved "0L". UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: US bayonet has good appearance w/ patina & light marks. CONDITION: metal has cleaned appearance starting to reacquire patina showing light pitting & marks throughout. Stock has good appearance w/ worn finish, sm. cracks, impressions, gouges, scuffs & sm. chip commensurate w/ age. Dark pitted bore. Lock appears functional when cycled by hand. (01-22706/MD).
