POWDER FLASKS. 1) A large brown leather holster of stitched and copper rivet construction. It is of a unique form with slits on the reverse for attachment to the belt. The flap is separately attached at the top with 4 rivets. The closing tang has a separately sewn retention guide and what appears to be a lead finial. The body of the holster is quite large, possibly for a dragoon sized pistol. CONDITION: the holster shows significant wear with crazing over most of the holster. Rivets have a dark patina. Finial is crudely cast and worn.
2) A standard issue Yankee military holster likely for an M1860 Colt army. Holster has copper rivet construction and normal stitching. Finial is brass. CONDITION: holster shows moderate wear with separations at the top of the flap and near the muzzle and the holster. Attachment tang is missing. This holster has seen significant field service.
3) A pistol sized Yankee cartridge box measuring 5 1/2" x 4”. Copper rivet and stitch construction. No contents. CONDITION: box is flaked and flexed overall. Belt loops and tang are intact.
4) A pistol sized cartridge box measuring 6” x 3 1/4". A dark brown leather box of stitched construction. Box has a single wide belt loop on the reverse. Tang is complete. Box has a lead finial that appears to be replaced or repaired. CONDITION: box shows moderate overall use with a few seam openings and holes in the suspension strap.
5) 4 POWDER FLASKS. This group contains an 8” flask with a copper body and brass charger. The body is covered in a net-like motif. The charger is marked “UNITED STATES FLASK CO.” / An 8” narrow bag flask with a plain copper body. Brass charger is marked “IMPROVED PATENT JAMES DIXON & SONS SHEFFIELD”. / A 4 1/4" flask with a zinc body having a scalloped fan motif. Unmarked brass charger. / A 3 1/2" flask having a plain iron body. The brass charger is unmarked. CONDITION: all non-ferrous flasks have minor shallow dents and functional chargers. The iron flask is free of dents but the charger spring does not function.
6) 5 BULLET MOLDS. This group contains 1 small caliber brass and iron pistol mold marked “COLT’S PATENT”. / 1 Large caliber iron pistol mold marked “COLT’S PATENT”. / 1 Crude brass scissor type brass bullet mold for a 69 cal. mini ball and small caliber round ball. / 1 Early iron scissor type bullet mold of approximately 25 cal. / 1 Small early iron scissor type bullet mold of approximately 20 cal. CONDITION: Colt molds show oxidation. Early scissor molds function well. Crude brass mold shows significant use and heavy patina. (02-17460.BF). $600-900.
