CIVIL WAR RICE BAG, POMMEL HOLSTERS & UCV FLAG.
1) CIVIL WAR PERIOD RICE BAG. An unbleached cotton, button in, rice bag made to fit inside a Civil War haversack. Bag measures approx. 11 1/4" x 11 1/4". Bag is stitched on both sides & slightly gathered at the bottom. There a 3 button holes at the top. CONDITION: quite solid but is a bit soiled & shows some staining. (02-13493/BF). 2) AMERICAN POMMEL HOLSTERS. Each holster measures approx. 13” long. Holsters are connected in the center by a 13” strap w/ a central hole. There are 2 partial attachment straps w/ brass framed buckles on either side of the hole. Each holster has a leather cover w/ a central brass boss that attaches a closing strap. The strap closes on a brass finial centrally located on the holster body. There is a brass cup at the base of each holster. CONDITION: show light to moderate wear overall. Connecting strap is heavily flexed w/ minor losses. (02-13504/BF). 3) UCV FLAG. Measures approx. 46” x 54” including fringe. An interesting rendition of the classic Confederate “Stars & Bars” flag likely dating from the late 19th to the early 20th century. Features a central white cross on a red field w/ a yellow fringed border on 3 sides. The white cross features 11 gold bullion stars each sewn in 5 separate pieces w/ a central sewn sequin. There is a collection number on a sm. piece of white cloth tape sewn to a corner. CONDITION: substantially solid but does have several sm. scattered holes & some minor staining. White silk cross has separations & scattered minor losses. (02-13513/BF). $1,000-1,500.
