CIVIL WAR TO INDIAN WAR HORSE GEAR & SADDLES.

1) HORSE GEAR. This group of horse equipment dates from the Civil War through the Indian Wars & includes 1 Pair of iron & leather horse hames stamped on each hame, “US MEDIUM”. 1 Hame is also marked, “USA WATERVLIET ARSENAL”. / 1 Pair of iron & leather horse hames that is unmarked. / 1 Crupper w/ breeching straps. / 2 Trace chains. / 1 Headstall. / 1 Set of blinders for a mule w/ "US" side bosses. / 1 Possible breast collar & straps. / 9 Wooden stirrups. / 1 Lg. leather collar. CONDITION: leather is generally stiff & dirty & shows moderate wear. Wooden stirrups show moderate to heavy wear. (02-15730/BF).
2) CIVIL WAR SADDLE. A regulation Civil War McLellan saddle w/ a rawhide covered tree & leather flaps on each side. Stirrup straps & stirrups are connected. All rings are present. Pommel shield reads, “3 ALLEGHENY ARSENAL 1862”. CONDITION: seat has a split in the rawhide but is complete. Leather is quite dry & flaking throughout but remains intact.
3) SADDLE. A good example of 1904 McClellan style saddle. Leather covered seat. All associated rings are intact. Pommel shield reads, “12 INCH SEAT”. No straps included. CONDITION: light to moderate wear overall. (02-15733/BF). $900-1,200.
