SINGLE TRIGGER GAME SHOTGUN BY F.lli BERTUZZI WITH SCROLL & BULINO ENGRAVING BY G. FERRAGLIO WITH CASE. Cal. 28 Ga. S# 6145. Bbl. 28". The Bertuzzi brothers have long since retired & examples of their limited production of guns, ranking among the world's finest, seldom come to market. This fine small bore example has 28" well struck chopper lump barrels with slightly raised concave matted rib. Top of left barrel is engraved "Filli BERTUZZI ITALY". Barrel flats are stamped with 2007 Italian nitro proofs for 2 3/4" chambers & with importer's name & address (BSANY MILLBROOK). Coin finished, scaled down sidelock action features non automatic safety ("SAFE" inlaid in gold) & single non selective trigger. Action & lockplates are engraved with near full coverage well cut classic rose & scroll. On bottom of action, this scroll surrounds nicely detailed Bulino portrait of woodcock in flight over open meadow. Both lockplates are engraved "Flli BERTUZZI", engraver's signature is on trigger plate. Single beaded trigger guard with matching scroll is gold inlaid with monogram "AR"?. Serial number is on tang. Superb feather crotch figured American walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14 1/2" over checkered wood butt with engraved steel heel toe plates. Well cut point pattern checkering is at grip & matching small semi beavertail ejector forend has Anson release. Uncheckered diamond at bottom is flush gold inlaid with crowned device. Interior is lined in burgundy cloth with gold embossed black leather Bertuzzi label stitched into lid. CONDITION: exceptionally fine, close to "as new" with only 1 or 2 of the faintest handling & assembly marks on all wood & metal surfaces. Mechanically crisp. Case is also excellent inside & out.
