"PRIMIC" MODEL GAME GUN WITH CASE. Cal. 12 Ga., 2 1/2". S# 56833. Bbls. 30". The Primic was only made for a few years and was C&H's second quality sidelock gun. It could be ordered w/ most features of the "Best Quality" Victor. This gun has 30" chopperlump bbls. engraved "Cogswell & Harrison Ltd "PRIMIC" 168 Piccadilly London." on narrow swamped game rib. Bbl. flats are stamped w/ London nitro-proofs for 2 1/2" chambers. Bbls. are fitted w/ C&H "Avant Tout" ejector system spring plungers. Case hardened sidelock action is stocked to the fences & features automatic safety ("SAFE" inlaid in gold), H&H style hand detachable locks, & dbl. triggers. Action & lockplates are engraved w/ about 90% coverage varying size shaded scroll w/ rose bouqet highlights. Top lever, floor plate, trigger plate, & trigger guard are blued & engraved w/ matching scroll. S# is on trigger guard tang. Well mottled & burl figured European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14 1/4" over red "Silver" type pad & features drop points, point pattern checkering, & gold oval. Matching splinter ejector forend has Anson release. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: R .731", L .734". Restriction: R .011" (IC), L .025" (MOD). Min. Wall Thickness: R .030", L .028". STOCK: DAH: 1 7/8+". DAC: 1 7/16". LOP: 14 1/4". CAST: approx. 1/2" off. WEIGHT: 6 lb. 9 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: gun is accompanied by certificate of origin stating that this gun was made around 1934 for Admiral A. B. Wake as #2 gun of a composed pair & built w/ the same specifications as gun number 56730, made for Captain A. Wake in 1930. Gun also comes w/ what is most likely its original brown leather case w/ brass corners, a leather rectangle on top is embossed "J.F.D." (C&H certificate of origin states that this gun was resold in 1947 to J. Duff). Interior is lined in burgundy cloth & has paper C&H label in lid. CONDITION: fine as partially refinished. Bbls. retaining 90% of a good quality reblack. Action & lockplates retain 60-70% original case hardening color. Stocks retain nearly all of a oil refinish w/ sharp edges rounded, checkering recut. Bores are fine w/ some light frosting toward breech ends & 1 or 2 scattered very minor dents on sides about 11" from breech end. Action is tight. Bbls. are just a bit off face. Mechanically good. Ejectors are slightly out of time. Case leather is very dark, shows considerable chipping & rubbing as well as stains & bumps. Handle & straps are missing. Interior cloth is good w/ some insect damage in lid & some rubs & soiling. Label is oil soaked & foxed, probably replaced in '47. (22-3839/MGM). CURIO. $2,250-3,750.
