ANTIQUE RIFLE AMMO. 2 Winchester & 1 Remington UMC Cartridge Co. 1) 45-90 Winchester 20 rd. tan box w/ green label. Box cover has wood strip to retain the staggered cartridge rows. Black powder loading w/ 90 grains of powder & 300 grain lead bullet. Labeled for Model 1886 Winchester repeating rifle. Box is also labeled w/ reloading instructions. Cartridges are generally clean w/ attractive patina commensurate w/ age. CONDITION: Labeling on box is complete & generally legible. Box has wear, scuffing, lose corners & bottom of box is loose w/ taped repair. 2) 38-56 Winchester 20 rd. tan box from the early 1890’s w/ green label. Black powder loading w/ 56 grains of powder. 255 Grain lead bullet. Box is also labeled w/ reloading instructions. CONDITION: box labeling is generally legible except as noted & along lower front edge of cover. Box has illegible label on reverse relating to use of cartridges. Cartridges are generally clean w/ attractive patina commensurate w/ age. Box has wear, scuffing & light staining. Box has loose seams at top & bottom ends. 3) 40-82 Winchester & Marlin. 20 Rd. paste board box mfg. by Remington Arms Union Metallic Cartridge Co. Cartridges are head stamped “UMC” & “40-82”. Tan box has green label w/ both Remington & UMC logos. Black powder w/ 265 gr. bullet. CONDITION: box has extensive wear & scuffing. Labeling is mostly legible except for sealing label on reverse of box. Box corners have wear, scuffing & tears. Cartridges are generally clean w/ attractive patina commensurate w/ age.
